WPSP Call for Nominations 2024-2025

We are inviting you to nominate yourself and/or a colleague to serve on the Board of the Washington Professionals for the Study of Psychoanalysis (WPSP).  The term will begin in July 2024 and end June 2025.  Students and early career professionals are welcome!  This rewarding opportunity will contribute to your leadership skills, to becoming a voice on the Executive Board and to making enjoyable connections with other mental health professionals.  You are not required to have a license to serve on this Board.

 Executive Board positions are:

·      President (1 year as President plus 1 year as Past President) –

            Functions as CEO of the Chapter, chairs meetings, appoints committee chairs, implements actions

·      President-elect – (1 year)

            Shadows President, shares CEO responsibilities and duties

·      Treasurer (1 year – re-election allowed)

            Custodian of all WPSP funds.  Keeps all financial records, disburses payments and files all required reports

·      Secretary (1 year – re-election allowed)  

            Records minutes of Executive Board meetings

Representatives to The Society for Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology (Division 39) Section IV, Local Chapters Senate – 2 positions (2-year term)

Liaison with Society for Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology (Division 39) Section IV Local Chapters Senate, attend Society for Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology (Division 39) annual spring meeting, communicate with other local chapters’ representatives.  (Must be a member of Society for Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology (Division 39) of the APA)

The Board meets four times per year often on Sunday or at a time when all Board members are available.

We also have Committee Chair positions to be filled annually (1 year – re-election allowed):

  • Program Committee – responsible for arranging, along with the Executive Board, WPSP programs

  • Meeting Arrangements Committee – organized on an as-needed basis.  Responsible for coordinating and contracting the location of the meetings, arranging for refreshments

  • Outreach Committee – Organized on an as-needed basis to serve as liaison to the general educational and professional community

  • Seminar Committee (formerly Study Groups) – Responsible for coordinating WPSP seminar study groups and for administering continuing education requirements

  • Archives Committee – Responsible for maintaining a permanent file which records the Chapter’s history.  Also maintains files of minutes of the Executive Board meetings and newsletters

  • Local Chapter Liaison Committee – Responsible for coordination of events with other Washington area local chapters of Society for Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology (Division 39) – as needed or requested by our President

  • Student Outreach Committee – Responsible for outreach to graduate students interested in the study of psychoanalysis

  • Election Committee Chair – Organizes annual election

  • Media Chair – Assists with website maintenance, marketing and support

  • Technical Chair – Assists with all technical requirements for meetings, salons and conferences
